UrbanVolt has partnered with MESO Energy to agree a full funded rooftop solar installation for Excel Waste Management – marking the first project between the two companies and the start of a strong new collaboration.

The 180kWp system, currently under development at Excel Waste Management’s Rainham facility, will generate approximately 177,000 kWh of renewable electricity annually. This will supply around 30% of the site’s daytime energy demand, reducing reliance on grid electricity while improving long-term cost certainty.

Structured through a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA), the project requires no upfront investment from Excel Waste Management. UrbanVolt is funding, installing, and managing the system, enabling the business to benefit from on-site renewable energy at a predictable, long-term rate.

MESO Energy played a key role in advising Excel Waste Management, ensuring the solution aligned with both operational requirements and long-term energy strategy. By combining MESO’s advisory expertise with UrbanVolt’s fully funded delivery model, the partnership enabled a solution that is both commercially viable and straightforward to implement.

Together, the two organisations are helping businesses overcome common barriers to solar adoption, including upfront cost and delivery complexity.

“Working with MESO Energy and UrbanVolt has allowed us to take a significant step forward in our energy strategy. The installation enables us to reduce both our reliance on grid electricity and our carbon footprint, without the need for upfront investment. It’s a practical solution that supports both our operational and sustainability goals.”

Nathan Godden, Director, Excel Waste Management

“At MESO Energy, our role is to ensure clients implement energy solutions that are both commercially and operationally aligned. This project with Excel Waste Management demonstrates how on-site generation can deliver immediate cost savings while supporting long-term sustainability objectives. Working alongside UrbanVolt allowed us to bring a fully funded solution to the table that removes barriers to adoption.”

Oliver King, Managing Director, MESO Energy
