It’s Easier Than Ever To Vote With Your Wallet

Last year when UrbanVolt became a B Corp, most people still didn’t know what being a B Corp means. Today, there are more than 2,700 B Corps worldwide, and a global shift of awareness toward this pioneering community.

The B Corp community is made up of businesses who:

  • Meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance

  • Are committed to public transparency and legal accountability

  • Act to protect the rights and wellbeing of people who work for them, no matter where they are in the supply chain

When you choose to support a B Corp, you are casting your vote for the kind of world you want to live in. At UrbanVolt, we believe that it is not only possible to balance purpose with profit, but that it is the future of the western capitalist model.

Whether you’re buying for yourself or for your business, it’s now easier than ever to find a B Corp option, due to the wide range of companies in our community. Alongside UrbanVolt, you’ll find cosmetics companies, hotels, banks, fashion brands, professional services and even gourmet dog food!

That’s not to say anyone can join us, however. Aspiring B Corps must demonstrate their commitment to purpose, people and the environment across all aspects of their business. The extremely rigorous examination process takes months. If you want to know what it takes, we recommend reading about our B Corp journey.

Our contribution as a B Corp is to help our clients reduce their carbon footprint. Because most of our clients have long operating hours, large warehouses and production floors, the transition to LED lighting makes an enormous reduction in their energy consumption.

UrbanVolt clients save more than 55,000,000 kWh of electricity every year. To put that into perspective, that’s the equivalent of 95,093,655 miles driven in your family car, or charging 495,937,548 smartphones. As we always say at UrbanVolt, the most sustainable energy is energy that's not used.

February is B Corp Month, a time to recognise, celebrate and support businesses that are doing the right thing for people and the planet. Because our fellow B Corps are making noise on social media, it’s a great month for you to discover B Corp replacements for some of the less sustainable products and services that you regularly use.

And if you’re up for making the commitment, check out Certified B Corporations to learn about the B Impact Assessment, a free, online platform that evaluates how your company interacts with your workers, customers, community, and environment.

We’d love to have you join us.
