Mattie and Miriam Moore’s pig farm has been in operation since the early 1970’s. The facility in Offaly now houses 1,800 sows at any one time and is one of 3 agri-produce sites operated by the family.
There are many uncontrollable factors affecting operating costs for farms such as Mattie’s, but his high lighting bill was one he could control. As well as the high running cost, the old fluorescent fittings were coming to 'end of life' and replacing bulbs was becoming an expensive nuisance. There were also fittings of varying wattages across the site so achieving consistency and improving the light levels was an objective for this Light as a Service project.
UrbanVolt planned and project managed the Light as a Service installation on the site. The UrbanVolt project management team oversaw the retrofitting of 164 uniform LED linear fittings which created consistent light levels across the site.
Additional LED fittings were added in a new build on the site. And even with the additional LED lights, the net lighting cost fell. Maintenance of the LED lighting is no longer a costly and time-consuming issue. With the UrbanVolt ‘no-haggle’ guarantee, if any of the LEDs fail, they will be replaced.
