URBANVOLT, the start-up backed by Ireland rugby star Jamie Heaslip, has marked its 100th installation at the Sports Surgery Clinic in Santry, Dublin.
The Sports Surgery will cut its energy bills by €34,000 a year, as well as enjoying an LED upgrade for no upfront cost. The company's Light as a Service model sees it fund, fit and maintain LED lighting solutions for commercial properties. It shares the money saved by the businesses as a result.
UrbanVolt will save its first clients over €20m in energy cost over five years.
“Like UrbanVolt, we believe that if energy efficiency assets are to be considered truly efficient, they should generate enough savings to pay for themselves," Ray Lennon, Facilities Manager with the Sports Surgery Clinic said.
“Through this project we have been able to upgrade the premises for the benefit of staff and patients, as well as reduce our energy consumption and energy bill.
“Thanks to our partnership with UrbanVolt, we are keeping with our mission to constantly improve on our world class facility.”
UrbanVolt is the preferred lighting supplier for Bord Gais Energy’s 40,000+ commercial customers. The company was named Bank of Ireland Startup of the Year in 2016 and is well known for its recent sponsorship of the Leinster Rugby team.
Last year UrbanVolt agreed a funding line of an initial €30 million with leading Swiss investment advisor, SUSI Partners - in the first agreement of its kind in Europe. SUSI Energy Efficiency Fund co-invests with UrbanVolt in energy efficiency projects for SMEs across the country.
Last month the prestigious finance magazine, Trade and Forfaiting Review, carried out a global review of deals in 2016 and named the UrbanVolt and SUSI Partners agreement as one of the most innovative financial structures of 2016.
